It’s not often that new restaurants pop up around the Snowshoe area, but there is a new one this year! Technically it’s at the bottom of the mountain, but it’s only about 12 minutes from the Village at Snowshoe, so it's close enough for a quick trip.
The Snowshoe Hare is a coffee, gift, and souvenir shop in a small strip mall just at the bottom of the North side of the mountain. (Closeby to the Dollar General and Linwood Center.)
So, is it worth it? YES! Here are a few highlights from our trip:
Coffee Shop:
Unique offerings but also overall good coffee. We didn’t have any food (there are a few things) but we did get a smoothie. There’s plenty of seating (from tables, bar tops, and couches) in a variety of spaces upstairs and down. This has much more of a small town, local coffee shop, as opposed to a Starbucks. So, if that’s your style, you would love it here!
Gifts and Souvenirs:
Downstairs there are a variety of local items from body care to t-shirts to food. Upstairs boasts a whole floor of gifts and souvenirs at fair prices. Want a Christmas ornament? They got you! Need a windsock? Done. How about Snowshoe pajama pants? You can cozy up at home, remembering your week at Snowshoe with your fleece jammies on.
Bonus:
There's also a small Ski Barn shop attached to the Snowshoe Hare. So, if you need something, they're there too!
All in all, The Snowshoe Hare is a great addition to the oasis of restaurants and shops Snowshoe provides in rural West Virginia.
